Hypnobirthing helped me in so many ways. It prepared me in the months and weeks leading up to the birth, giving both my husband and I the chance to inwardly prepare, to face our fears and to bond with our unborn child.

We threw our selves right in there, listening to the CD's every night, visualising a beautiful birth and practiced the various breathing techniques.

Sadly things didn't go exactly as planned. Our baby was overdue by 10 days and due to complications, I had to be induced. The contractions came fast and furious and before I knew it I was in labor. The evening before the induction, I used the visualisation techniques that I had learnt to prepare for the birth. It really helped me to accept the turn of events. Things did not go the way I had hoped. After 10 hours of full blown contractions, my cervix wouldn't dilate and I had to have an emergency c-section. Despite things not working out the way we had so thoughtfully planned, the hypnbirthing helped me tremendously. I used the calm breathing when things became stressful and was able to reach a deep state of relaxation through most of my contractions. Leo Oliver was born and my world changed forever. He was calm and beautiful and I truly believe the months of hypnosis practicing had a lot to do with it.
